Google searches for players' wives and girlfriends

I am prone to using Google to pull up the stat pages for baseball players I want to look up, because it's faster even than the searches on the sites with the stats.

Every time I use Google to try and look a guy up, the suggested searches on the autocomplete infallibly contain the guy'sname along with either "girlfriend" or "wife." Does nearly every player in the game have a significant other so hot as to be Google-worthy? Or are groupie girls checking to see if there's competition? Or are dudes so wrapped up in hero worship that they even want to know who their favorite player is banging?

Very odd.
