I usually wake up about 5:30 in the morning and take a shot of something like V8 to get rid of the crappy taste in my mouth. Also it seems to make waking up 2 hours later a little easier AND it usually gives me interesting dreams for that 2 hours.
So last night I get up and do that routine then I notice on the stove clock that it's not even 1 am! Which is usually a great feeling cause you have that much more time to sleep but I couldn't get back to sleep.
So I writhed around for an hour or so then finally got up and drank some nyquil, which worked, but then I REALLY did not want to get out of bed this morning.
And it doesn't help that our house gets super-naturally cold.

the end

Do you wake up at 5:30 on purpose or does it just happen that way?

Sometimes I kinda would like to get up about 2 hours early so I could have a couple hours to myself before anything irritating starts happening...mostly it's just a hypothetical 'like' since I hate mornings.

it just happens. not an exact science. usually it happens because Ralph the cat is attacking me, trying to get me to get up and feed him. But I've been this way for a long time. I've been an insomniac forever. And usually a very light sleeper.

I've always been a really good sleeper.  Too much.

I could sleep for 9, 10, even 11 hours straight if I don't force myself to get up.  On the weekends, sometimes I still do.

I always put a glass of water on my nightstand, but it's very rare that I'll wake up enough during the night to actually drink any of it.

I use to keep water on the nightstand but usually Ralph knocks it over. he also tends to stick his paws into it which is how he knocks it over but I don't really want to take the chance that a non-tumped over cup of water doesn't have cat-paw germs all in it.

i took a few healthy belts of absinthe at 4am on saturday.

laid down, close my eyes, opened them 2 seconds later, and the rest of the world had moved forward 8 hours.

Didn't feel refreshed at all, but hopefully my subconcious took a magical journey.
