I'm just going to say this about Family Guy and shut up, because a lot of people I respect like it and I respect that:

It just seems like pop references and absurdity without any context, one completely random riff after another without any discipline or purpose.

It's crude, it's misanthropic...and it's funny because....I watch too much TV and I catch the reference?

I don't know.  I'm not putting my finger on it.  I haven't seen enough of it to really say anything particularly concise about it...but I just don't see enough in it to justify watching it.

I watched a couple episodes of that Freak Show, mainly because I like David Cross.

It just struck me as kind of obvious.  Yes, red states are ignorant.  Republicans hate diversity.  Toby Keith is a war-mongering idiot.  State/county fairs are creepy.

Every joke just seems to be about the things David Cross hates and resents...hell, I resent 'em too.

At some point I think he needs to get over the fact that he comes from the south and get on with his life.

I miss the balance Bob Odenkirk gives him.

I know  a lot of people that love Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I'm not really into it but it's not to say I haven't chuckled at them here or there.  Well, not Aqua Teen. I can't stand that crap. It seems like it's all about the writers cracking themselves up.

and the animation is totally shitty.

I actually knew that because I actually go to imdb periodically to see what he's working on.

Which new TV pilot will never get aired?  Which new movie project will never get green lit?
