I don't know 'em personally, but I like(d) 'em. Haven't heard any news on what anyone's doing recently, though...

oh, i didn't mean personally, but you seem to have an ear to the ground. their discography says nothing new since '01. but comments on their page seem to indicate they may be touring. i never got to see them play. one of the great disappointments of the mid 90s. also taking too much acid to really enjoy red red meat in 94. huge mistake, in retrospect.

The kazoo was meant as a "gift" for the van ride, but glad Tom could get good use out of it onstage, too. What was the Toronto slagging? Califone got 3 encores here and a great response, so WTF? (Unless it was Flecton who slagged T.O., in which case, I'm not surprised. Ottawans hate Toronto.)
Was there a party after?
It was just slagging Toronto for the sake of slagging Toronto (which is popular in Montreal, of course) ...though there is a genuine dislike of Toronto here (and everywhere else), everyone seemed to be in on the fact that the joke is now to joke about joking about slagging Toronto. Miche and Tom worked some in, but Tim joined in on one that Tom set up (from the crowd with his kazoo). Good fun. It was more "roll yr eyes" type slagging last night.
As for the kazoo, he didn't use it on stage...just a bit between a couple of Califone tunes and then a full show outside. But not on stage. Although it is as if Tom is always on stage. It's just that sometimes there are drums in front of him.

I know I was complaining that there weren't enough humanoid creatures on this planet.

Tim Rutelli has a girlfriend named Gina..?
Yep. They live in LA. She does the artwork for their posters. Really awesome silkscreen stuff...
she used to live in milwaukee, and i once transported her across state lines at tim's request for the "heron king blues" record release show at the empty bottle. it was snowing that night, and the drive took almost four hours. we had some quality conversation, and she never tired of my stories (amazingly).
