"The chief problem about death, incidentally, is the fear that there may be no afterlife -- a depressing thought, particularly for those who have bothered to shave. Also, there is the fear that there is an afterlife but no one will know where it\'s being held."

I can't remember the beginning of the song.

All I can remember is the 12 string rock opus part.

it's just a bunch of scary noises and the strings are going
"ZHING ZHONG ZHEEM ZHONG" over and over. then there's some backwards voices and shit.

hearing that just now for the first time in a while, and assuming you haven't heard it in a while either, thats a damn fine description, tripp.
really didn't have to hear it at all. you nailed it.

Ah, thank you.

I found a copy of "Out of the Blue" on vinyl for a quarter several weeks ago.

Still has the cut-out space station card and everything.

Too bad the record isn't very good.

Speaking of song titles, what do you think the track listing of the ultimate Halloween ipod/cd/tape mix would be?

Halloween by Home

Halloween by Siouxsie & the Banshees?

Halloween by anyone?

Under The Ground by the Grifters. Whatever that Crain b-side was (Coalmind 666? I don't remember liking it all).

Careful With That Axe, Eugene or Lucifer Sam - Pink Floyd

Head Cut - Siouxsie and the Banshees (pretty much everything by SATB, I guess)

Death Valley '69 - Sonic Youth with Lydia Lunch (all of Bad Moon Rising)

Bad Moon Rising - CCR

Far Gone, I Can't See Nobody or Rust Belt off of Love Battery's "Far Gone. I am, no doubt, the only Love Battery fan here, but I bad tripped (acid) to that fucking album and those songs scared the fucking piss out of me. Sub Pop screwed them badly and the album wasn't mixed at all (tracks were just dropped on top of each other), so it has the most peculiar "sound", and their songs are generally psychedelic (original band name was Battery Acid) ...Rust Belt ends with Ron Rudzitis singing over and over "You're turning green" (I think - that's what I heard then and have heard ever since). A lot of Love Battery and Grifters

The Leather - Oblivians

a lot of Fire Show

almost everything by Compulsive Gamblers (esp. Dead Waltz, My Love Is A Monster, Don't Haunt Me)

Blue Jay Way - Beatles (reminds me of Halloween)

Tom Waits, anyone?

I Drink Blood - Rocket From The Crypt

I Saw You or Frozen Fun - The Clears (Ties Me Up is more topical, et poppier)

Nightmares By The Sea - J. Buckley (Your Flesh Is So Nice for fun...and for fucking in the backroom of the party)

both sides of the Strapping Fieldhands' psychedelic opus, "The Caul". First of all, there are no breaks and its near impossible to figure out where songs begin or end, secondly its so wild that...actually, that would pretty much kill a party, eh? The pastoral vibes of Strapping Fieldhands just lend themselves to autumn (in my mind).

I Like To Die - The Drags

Vacuum In My Head - Pere Ubu

Dark Was The Night - Blind Willie Johnson (not really appropriate, but it gives me chills)

Gories - Ghost Rider

Dirtbombs - Born In A Haunted Barn

Dead Man Blues - Jelly Roll Morton

Fixin' To Die Blues - Bukka White

Dead Man Soundtrack?

The video for http://www.youtube.com/v/CKSIRHcElXc always makes me think of Halloween.

DJ Shadow's "Building Steam From A Grain Of Rice" reminds me of the movie Halloween (not sure why)

*figured I might as well attach the vid
