I must be sick, as I have dug up videos that people lent me that have movies on them that I never had any intention of watching (as well as the ones that I borrowed them for) and have now watched them.

"The Green Mile"? What an atrocious pile of shit. I am not sure that I am still sick or if its just these fucking movies.

Always curious as to how much these terrible films are appreciated, I go to my favourite place. the IMDb and find:
"8.1/10 (84,460 votes)  top 250: #130"

While there is no doubt it is a superior film to those that follow it (Battle of Algiers, The Deer Hunter, The Bicycle Thief, Les Diaboliques, Wild Strawberries, etc.), Kurt and I have spoken before about how flawed/fucked the IMDb top 250 is in general and its not really worth going over here again. What is worth mentioning is how delightful some of the commentary on the site is. A readings of the reviews can sometimes give you a feel for a film, but the message boards give you a feel for humanity (at least that which spends time on message boards):

Which prison guard did you find the most attractive?

Paul
Dean
Brutal
Percy

I would have to say Percy,i know he was cruel etc but he was just so cute and sexy looking.

I thought Brutal was really sweet!

Well, I say Percy because to me, there are three things that are unavoidable.

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Doug Hutchison being unreasonably, ridiculously hot

Well, if we're talking about looks here and not personality, then... Percy, I'm afraid. >_<
He was cruel and he was nasty, but I couldn't help becoming attracted to him anyway...
Dean was pretty cute too, I thought.

I thought Dean was the hottest one out of them all. Mmm, Barry Pepper. ^^

When I read the book and found out what happened to the other guards, after John's execution, I cried and cried. Especially about Dean. Oh my gosh.

I won't spoil it for those who haven't read the book, but yeah. It was so horrendously sad.

I'm just watching the film for the first time in school. YES! We'll be watching it tomorrow!  I think we're at the part just before the guy goes on fire when he gets executed.

Yes, same here, I wrote to him too and it was roughly 6 months before I received the reply. He actually apologised for how long it had taken for his reply to get back to me, bless him. Smiley It was well worth the wait!
I wrote to him through the address that was on his website, I think.

etc.

The Green Mile is pretty awful.  I thought the whole supernatural angle was pretty fucking cheesy.  And it's a schmaltzy movie.

And what do you mean by "While there is no doubt it is a superior film to those that follow it (Battle of Algiers, The Deer Hunter, The Bicycle Thief, Les Diaboliques, Wild Strawberries, etc.)"?

Are you being ironic?

It's cold, I'm hunover, and I'm feeling like getting drunk. The last thing I want to do at all is exercise. Must...make...self...exercise.

Angry Goddammit, Evan, get your lazy old flabby ass downstairs and work out!

"This year, the safety of gel implants was again brought into question when a significant Canadian study reported a 73-per-cent higher rate of suicide among women with breast implants than the general population."

i'm sure this has absolutely NOTHING to do with the low self esteem that usually causes women to seek augmentatation in the first place.  naw.  must be the implants themselves.  but seriously,  large or small, firm or a little floppy, real breasts are best.  what good are boobs if you all you can do is look at em. boobs are meant to be played with.  give me natural, malleable mammaries anyday........just one man's opinion.

Drunk is not a synonym of "legal". If you are drunk (which you are) it only seems that way.

I know, patently ridiculous. "Oh that's why they're depressed: silicone." Ugh. In the sex/porn industry it seems practically mandatory to "enhance" one's body. But in "real life"? I can't see being soooooo insecure that I'd undergo surgery just to have bigger boobs. And I say this as someone who has about a trillion self-esteem issues.

A really good friend of mine has wanted breast implants for years now. She's secure and self-confident in every other way but despite having a great life, she thinks she/it will somehow be better if she is "better proportioned." She wants her husband to buy them for her for their next anniversary.

I can't figure her out sometimes.
