I'm going up to a friends chalet this weekend.  It's by a lake.  I'll probably spend the weekend doing sweet fuck all and feeling guilty about it...

Well, not really.

Maybe.

all it all it went well...he said he had to talk to his boss who wants to know how it went...at which he said "and just to let you know it went very well"

Have you met his boss yet?

Because it sounds like you're being screened before you can meet him.

Let's just hope his boss doesn't have a boss.

They really don't exist in my universe. Have you had to hear them a bunch recently?

(mind thoroughly blown)

I am going to purchase a new computer for the schoolage...anyone want to make the decision for me? I know nothing about the differences between computers. Y'all seem relatively knowledgeable concerning the Mac vs. "IBM compatible computer with Microsoft Windows as its sole operating system" debate...what should I buy?

more quality programming from PBS:

 Lomax The Songhunter
Alan Lomax was "the song hunter." He devoted his life to recording the world's folk tunes before they would permanently disappear with the rise of the modern music industry. Dutch director Rogier Kappers visited Lomax in Florida in 2001, but a stroke had left the 86-year-old musicologist unable to speak. Lomax died shortly after. The filmmaker sought to tell Lomax's story through interviews with friends including Pete Seeger and archival footage of such greats as Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly. He also gathered footage of the cotton fields, rock quarries and prisons where Lomax the Songhunter captured America's quintessential music. Finally, Kappers' quest took him to Europe, where he traveled in an old Volkswagen to remote mountain villages in Spain and Italy to find the farmers, shepherds and weavers whose songs Lomax recorded decades ago.

Maybe if we got enough people together to scream all at once.

Uhhh, I dunno... This isn't a music gear question, so I'm clueless.  I like Macs.  But they're more expensive.  PC lap tops are dirt cheap (relatively speaking) these days.  They got about as expensive as an equivalent table top.  I find lap tops very practical.
