SO Ive seen this thing where people show off their random first ten songs on their ipod (or compatable mp3 player).

So here's mine from this morning...i have to say it was great...no fluff.

1. Exodus - BMW....live "babalyon from bus" version...he and the i3 (what was his wife and backup singers called?) hit you with "Set the captives free"...it sends shivers...then just "set set set"...7 minutes and you'll be walking to creation.

2.  buzzards and dreadful crows- That along with hot freaks probably made me a Gbv fan.

3.  Kiss - Prince  -- Remember Dynasty

4. Empty Page -- Sonic Youth -- reason why i started digging SY...working my way backwards through their catalog...it's like listening to tatoo you and then working your way back through the stones catalog...

5. Waiting for the Sun -- The Doors...It's true...this is the strangest life i've ever known.

6. McLusky --  She Will Only Bring You Happiness...cracks me up with the "our old singer is a sex criminal" part

7. Accidents will happen - Elvis costello -- i still haven't found that fury in Elvis C that i saw during his performance on austin city limits.

8. Breed Nirvana...what the hell is he trying to say?

9. beach boys don't talk (put your head on my shoulder)... there there

10. The Band -- King Harvest (Has Surely Come)... it sure has

So do you just plug up your iPod to your computer overnight and it downloads songs or how does that work?

I'll probably be a few decades late on the iPod fad.

most come with firewire* capabilites now, so transfer is pretty instantaneous. the ones with the USB cables are fairly slow, so those you would have to set up overnight if you were transferring a shitload of music.

i use the usb...only because that came with the thing and i don't feel like spending money on the firewire thing.

it only really takes a long time the first time you upload everything...cause after that you might be adding or deleting an album here of there. And it's still alot faster than when i had the rioport mp3 (30MBs!!!) which transfered over the printer port.

as for bogarting here's something to pass on...the door's maggie mcgill segways nicely into Cinammon.

I used the USB port with mine, and it's pretty damn fast.  I mean, 3 CDs get transferred in less than a minute.

It's an expensive toy, and I never thought I would use it this much.  But now that I have it, I can't go anywhere without it.  Listening to the Ipod is a great way of keeping the mind occupied while you're doing something that doesn't demand much attention, you know, walking, driving, cleaning, masturbating, that kind of stuff.
