we don't have the rights to any of the RECORDED Subpop stuff, so there's a possibility of using live versions of Subpop stuff BUT we just don't have that much live stuff that sounds good OR it sounds good but we're performing badly.

I think we decided not to put any BUD stuff on there but other than that and the Subpop recordings anything goes.
Singles, deep album cuts, live stuff (if it sounds good).

Dave is all about this project right now so I think it'll probably  get done. Though we don't have any idea who will put it out.

As far as any reunions go; who knows? It takes a lot of time to get things back to that delicate balance of unhinged and entertaining. It's easy to remember the songs and perform them but if we're just going thru the motions I don't think anyone would care. I wouldn't.

But then again we ain't getting any younger.

That live in Halifax bootleg that is floating around sounds pretty sweet, and you could probably get your hands on the master if you ask CBC radio for it, I know for a fact that they should have it, the guy who did the recording worked for them.  I don't know if that concert was ever aired.

Dave might have a copy of that but if not we should definitely track it down.

I don't know that I have the infamous Halifax show.

I have the two Prom discs, That's Not French, the Ottawa Dominion Tavern show, the St. Louis show...and one on cassette that I have listed as Montreal...could that be the Halifax show?

What was the set list?

I almost never listen to bootlegs or live recordings or even official live albums... I much prefer the intimacy of a bedroom, kitchen, basement, parking garage, flower shop, record store...or even studio to terribly recorded live albums and bootlegs.

But when I hear that there's an excellent recording of a Grifters live show...my ears perk up.

The only bootleg I ever really listen to regularly is that Simpletones reunion show.

That's the Halifax show.  It got called the Montreal show 'cause I was careless, didn't name it, and everyone assumed that it was the Montreal show.  I got it from a tape dub a friend of mine did.  He was an temp for Brave New Waves (a CBC late night underground music show) for a few months back in the late 90s.

here's my additional  two cents... this morning on the pod "here comes larry" came on...sans junkie blood...didn't even know what it was at first cause i'm so used to it just blending in to junkie blood.

but in one of those cosmic pod moments the next song was radio city suicide...the transition was beautiful...

but since i guess the latter was a subpop tune it won't be doable.

why don't you just get subpop to put out your best of non sub-pop stuff...it's win win...your early stuff gets more exposure...so any new fans who pick up the early years will most likely buy the later cds that are on sub pop.

i'm sure there would have to be some backroom dealings and a gratuitous fellatio session, but in the end those are sacrifices that must be made...for your fans.
