nothing's more boring than reading/hearing about someone's dreams, so i'll start a new topic where you can jot down a weird dream you had before you forget them

Folk Holes, Open Hole

I have been invited to Jim Woodring's house for dinner. He lives in a commune or co-op, there are a bunch of people there. Artwork everywhere, astounding new types of artwork that i wish i would be able to capture in words now. Lots of different types of animals, some of a peculiar design. Aquariums. Dogs padding around, one of them looks really old, 400 or 500 years old.

Jim has miles of archives. I spend most of the dream fascinated by a magazine called Folk Holes. There's another incarnation of the same mag called Open Hole, in the dream i thought well yeah, of course they changed the name from that. I didn't get the "folk holes" pun until now.

Folk Holes magazine is a black and white magazine, from the sixties or seventies, filled with page after page of hole-punched articles and photographs. Sometimes the holepunches are organized in a (now) indescribable collage, sometimes the holepunches are meant to obliterate the content. There are no actual holes in the paper, just the impression of them after the printing process. White holes and black holes, i guess depending on how the contrast is (how the reader will better see the hole.) The holepunch is the star, in this magazine. Jim Woodring has collected boxes and boxes of this title.

The World of Anthony Andy

World not our own but still governed by the same physical laws, built on different principles. Different language. Through the whole dream, this song played: "na naaa na naaaaa! loo ni loo ni loooniiiii!" Sounded like Gorkys Zygotic Mynci to me. And this kindly little old man rode up on a bicycle, he had a flying device that ran on wind alone. With a sparkle in his eye, looking at me, he threw it into the air and it went round the bend, around light poles and shit, then came back to his hands. He indicated that it was my turn to try the wonderful device, and he spoke in a language that was like bubbles. I put my hands where they should be, flung it and it flew from sight and came back somewhat near me. Basically like my experience with a boomerang but more exciting; the device made a whooshing sound. Some people addressed me clearly as "Anthony Andy." When I walked they threw strings at me that playfully encircled my legs and arms then went away. I was going away from them, to my car in the parking lot or something, and I felt like i was being watched, so i did a playful slide on the mud that turned into a ridiculously long slide, around light poles, curlycuing, and I barely maintained my balance, waving my arms. This delighted the people behind me, who called out something to the effect of "There goes Anthony Andy!"

I woke up from my nap with a feeling that I had been transported to a whimsical land and decided to go to a dinner i didn't feel like going to earlier.

so I just discovered I can't tie a tie in my dream...i was having this dream that i was going to some big party...and right before i went to it somebody was like "don't forget your tie" and for the rest of my dream i just kept trying to tie the tie...but i couldn't...sure they're was a brief interlude where the blond banquet waitress (think she was russian) tried to help me tie it...and when a hot chick helps you tie a tie in your dream you can't but help to pull her close...but still when I left my tie wasn't tied.

All I knew was that i never made it to the party...and i woke up to the sound of morrissey singing about the rain falling hard on a humdrum town.
