dinosaur jr. played for 70 minutes last night.  i think there were roughly 43 seconds that didn't sound like gribble bwah blat mwow wow bass/mid mush.  there were tons of rubble to sift through.  the sound dripped down like gravy.

j actually spoke to the crowd a couple of times.  here's what i think he said:

"hey."

"how's it goin'?"

"vocals suck, but guitars rule"

lou was a bit more chatty, but all i heard was "wah wah wah, wah."

murph's shirt only lasted through the first song.  i could see him hitting his kit during every song, but could only distinguish occasional thuds and certain hi-hat attacks.  you know the sound mix is shitty when the drums aren't even discernible.

favorite moment:  the transition from "kracked" into "sludgefeast."

i didn't know jason loewenstein was also on the bill until i showed up an hour after he had played.

i didn't catch any of love as laughter's set either.

Watching the Hullabaloo and Shindig stuff has been pretty fun. In the Byrds, Feel a Whole Lot Better, instead of focusing the camera on R. McGuinn's fingers as he plays his tasty guitar solo, it's all about the hullabaloo dancers.

In some of the Rolling Stones footage, there are a bunch of indifferent kids looking bored and dancing, like they could care less that cool-era Rolling Stones are right there with them.

I like Pulp too.

I'm still not one of the cool ones, though.

I love bursting bubbles:

Yes, you are one of the cool ones. Really.
