robyn hitchcock's performance from this morning is viewable from here.  he was fabulous, as usual, spending the first part on the piano and the second part on acoustic guitar.  he also blew some harp, er, mouth organ, er, harmonica.  his rendition of "queen elvis" was particularly stirring.  in addition to covering lennon, he did dylan's "she belongs to me" during his guitar set and made damn sure no oxygen got into its vacuum-sealed microverse.  he mocked certain members of the socal society with a song called "self-loving groover."  he said there would be no more live soft boys incarnations, but that he and the boys occasionally get together with other friends to play fundraisers for AIDS charities and médecins sans frontières.

it was an odd choice for a morning show, but his rendition of "flavour of night" from i often dream of trains on the piano was the highlight of the whole broadcast for me.

you,
yeah you,
with your ice cream hands,
you,
yeah you,
are my friend
