...That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his."

In defense of me mom. She was telling me how she used to have a three foot marijuana plant in her living room. She also once told me that she used to smoke hash twice a week.

She was part of that hippie progressive educators of the 60s and 70s.

so here's what I found out about Easley/McCain.
Apparently it was an electrical fire and it started within the walls of the studio. So it was raging before anyone even realized there was a fire.
The Minivan Blues band was setting up to do some recording
when they smelled smoke and then noticed the fire was engulfing the front lounge. there was a lot of smoke damage, the fire dept got there and doused the place and the ceiling gave way over the control room from the weight of all the water. So the board and and all the outboard stuff was pretty much ruined.

Nobody knows the fate of the studio at the time. With a lot of love and money the place could be restored but who knowsif and when? Kevin Cubbin, the engineer who was there last night, has brought in a lot of business and the studio was and has been booked solid thanks to him. So I would think there's some hope for the place.

fortunately a lot of tape reels were protected from the fire except the ones on the floor which got a lot of water damage. But all the furniture, Doug's Kay bass, and of course, everything that adorned the walls are trashed.

Sad indeed.

that was one of my first thoughts.  gear can be replaced, and although rare instruments and equipment will be harder to replace, the signals sent to tape at a given moment are the truly precious items.

fuckin' electricity.

Sony slays Beatallica

soory, matthew.  i guess that's not exactly happy news.

beatallica is a milwaukee band that plays beatles tunes metallica-style, and although this parodic practice is technically legal it isn't cool with the powers that be.  i guess metallica is all in favor it, though.

i had a nightmare last night that i was the living dead! me and some friends and family members were all zombies and we had to hole up in this little dirty apartment, because we were internally conflicted aboot our new zombie status. on the one hand, we were ashamed and didn't want to hurt anyone but on the other hand we were hungry and knew that we had to get out there and eat brains. i woke up soon after i ventured ootside the zombie apartment. it was really scary.
