I'll just go ahead and get this off my chest. We're going to Star Wars Ep 1 this weekend. The dudes are pumped up and I am not going to say a single grumpy thing about it. I'm going to eat popcorn and hope the vizzuals are fun in 3D.

the new Spider-man trailer is up.... Doesn't look that much different from the other movies except that oh, you know, Sam Raimi did the costume right... I hope the new one has a good theme song though... Have you ever really listened to Danny Elfman's Spidey theme.. ALL it does is build.. Every little section of it builds and then drops off then starts building up again.. There's never a part that you can hum to yourself... Seriously, here's a test...
Hum the star wars theme....
hum the superman theme...
hum indiana jones' theme...
now hum danny elfman's spider-man theme..

The first one is a goofy delight. And the others certainly have moments where they are the movies I dreamt of when my age was in single digits. But from an adult's perspective, they just get worse and worse.
The fourth one was shot on HD Video and looks it. And the sets have gotten ridiculous and cheap. Need to explain that something is the "Transport Room"? Why spend money on props when you can label the inside of the door "Transport Room" so that after the kids enter, we see what it's called? Of course, there's no goddamned reason to label any room on the
inside
of the door, but fuck you, Robert Rodriguez is on a budget. Also: Jessica Alba.
