Stacey's just finally made it to London.   They had snow on Saturday, so she got rerouted to Switzerland then finally to Frankfurt.     She didn't mind too terribly much.    Her parents are German, so she was able to get some comfort food.

Me and the dudes devolved quickly to bachelors.    We watched Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and the Super Bowl most of the day and ordered in pizza and wings.

The place is trashed.

So I'm learning that Chronicle was written by John Landis's boy, Max.

Max made a funny little short video about the death of S_perm__

Great quote a buddy of mine posted yesterday :

"Football embodies the worst aspects of American life. It is violence punctuated by committee meetings." George F. Will.

Yeah, GFWill is a repug, but when he writes about sports, he is consistently a delight. And that quote is perfect.

we watched the super bowl.  most of it anyway.. I thought it was about as boring as every other football game I've ever watched.. it still sickens me that so much money is wasted on watching some jock douchebags throw a ball to each other..   And what's up with congratulating the fans..?  They didn't do jack shit..
I actually thought Madonna looked pretty good.

Luckily she covered up the sinew-covered bones that pass for her arms these days. I thought she was.... meh. The production values were pretty great, though (Cirque de Soleil were involved). That is literally all I watched of the Super Bowl. Oh, except for some of the post game, waiting to see who was named MVP (and then I didn't wait long enough to find out) to see which of my friends won the kitty on the coffee table. (They only had two bets going. Lame!)

BUT I very much enjoyed Patton Oswalt/Jon Wurster/Tom Scharpling live tweets. I felt like I was there, making fun in person.

Also, Jeff went to Little India and picked up a massive tub each of saag paneer and malai kofta, plus naan and samosas. I expect, since the rest of the world cares little to none about the Super Bowl, that we were the only house EVER with an Indian food Super Bowl party. (Not even a party, only two other folks showed.) But maybe not. Anyway, I had the saag, but I'm off the booze for Feb, and off sugar and (refined) carbs, so didn't get to eat the rest of it. Boo.

That was pretty much my take as well.     Really awesome production, but I don't give Madonna much credit for that (outside of being smart enough to hire them).

I've been pretty shocked at how strongly people still feel about her.   My facebook essploded with a 50/50 mix of "MADONNA IS THE EMBODIMENT OF SHEER DIVINITY ON THIS PLANET!!!!"    and "MADONNA SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH FOR SUCH TERRIBLE LIP SYNCHING!!"

I think its a testament to her that she still gets people's blood up.

Her movie, W.E., sure is getting panned, like, everywhere.

Anybody else looking forward  to The River on ABC tomorrow night? It's their new supernatural/adventure serial, created/directed by the guy who did Paranormal Activity.

My favorite horror blogger, The Jaded Viewer says it's excellent. That guy's grasp on proper grammar and spelling and basic sentence construction sometimes frustrate me, but his taste is just this side of impeccable. If he says it's good, it almost certainly is.
