In other news, so far Germinal is an awesome novel. It's the first Emile Zola I've read. I've got a feeling I'm gonna get on a Zola kick.

Zola is one of my favourite writers ever!  He's in the top five, at least.  I highly recommend L'Argent

I was trying to remember which one you recommended. Have you read a bunch of his novels? Do you think that's the one I should read next?

Yes, I have read a bunch of his novels.  Germinal is considered by many to be his master piece.  But I loved "L'Argent" simply because the events it describes sound so appropriate to our times.    I also recommend "L'Assomoir" and its sequel "Nana".   L'Assomoir is the mom's story, Nana is about the daughter.   L'Assomoir is the book that launched Zola as a writer.

In other sad news, Katy Perry and Russell Brand are splitsville.

Who?!

Arguably the most popular pop singer in the world and her comedian/actor hubby, the tall lout from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I honestly do not know who those people are.  Seriously.  I don't think I give a shit either.

I was thinking of starting with the first book in the Les Rougon Macquart series, La Fortune des Rougon. I really wish I had learned French.

I haven't read that one.  I mean, there's a shit load of books in the Rougon-Macquart series, and some are more popular than others.

Awesome.  Close those damn books, Cappy.

Well that sucks.

My day is shaking down customers trying to find an extra $2068 in sales.

And no one needs a thing. Everyone has already ordered. So this will be strictly a matter of bullying and favor-calling.

raising over 2K in 3 hours time is no small task.   that kind of skill is quite marketable.  congrats!

Impressed.
