We had a mini Christmas party last weekend, mostly kid-centric, cookie decorating, etc. But I made Swedish-style Glogg and it was glorious. Simple recipe if anyone needs a seasonal booze /punch/mulled wine thing this holiday.

It's shelved under young adult fiction, but it's a good read for old adults, too.

It's a page turner. Especially welcome after 2 1/2 weeks of trudging through Victor Hugo. Not that the Hugo novel was bad, it just wasn't written for the typical modern ADD-brained reader.

I'm putting down The Leftovers for now.     Even though its sort of cheeky and has funny parts, the overall gloom is just not what I want right now.     I grabbed up the latest Brian Greene and will gnaw on that for a while.

If anyone has any uplifting fiction they want to recommend, I'm all ears.

We watched Moneyball. Good but not as good as I hoped. Doesn't give Billy Beane enough credit, fictionalizes a less interesting sidekick, but still gives the idea, I guess. B-
