about to go pick up the rental and start the long drive to NC..  I've done it 9 hours before but that makes S____ crazy  (driving 100mph)...  we're gonna try to find weird places to stop..

Ate shrimp brownies and went to see Melancholia last night.    Fucking awesome.    Gorgeous visuals soul-crushing story and a tremendous cast.

Might be his best movie.

All sci-fi flicks should dig that deep into the human heart.

And apparently he let himself out of the Dogma oath?    I refuse to believe that he actually found two planets to smash together.   Pretty sure that was special effects.

I'm pretty interested to see Melancholia. We're going to take C to see the Muppet movie over the weekend so it'll have to wait a bit. Not sure if Ei or C is more excited about the muppet movie.

Guffaw!  I don't think he ever took that thing that seriously.  Besides, that was something he came up with in 1995!

Same here. We're all over the Muppet movie. Melancholia sounds great. I thought well of most of his Dogma '95 work, but I have been missing his more adventurous stuff. I was a big fan of Zentropa and The Kingdom.

von Trier only made one official Dogme 95 movie: Idioterne.

I hear the fx in Melancholia are amazing for his low budget.
