I'm actually really enjoying the debut album by Das Racist. It's absurdist, motormouthed fun from dudes who alternate between mocking stupid hiphop cliches and mocking themselves. I'd recommend it to some of y'all old codgers who share my regret that the days of De La Soul's 3 Feet Rising and Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique and that sort of goofy, experimental hip hop are all gone.

It's tongue-twisting gibberish set to loony beats that sound like stuff out of a video game. None of that horseshit about what designers clothes they wear or what they drink. (Unless they're mocking that shit by being lowbrow: "I got a leather jacket/I got a little hat on\I'm drinking carbonated water by the quarter gallon.")

Probably the only hip hop album I've ever heard with lyrical shoutouts to Jeff Mangum.

The march last night was good stuff.   Very moving to see such a wide swatch of people (especially the age ranges) coming out to collectively say "stop being assholes".

Tripp, out of maybe 10 thousand people, I saw one dude in an american flag cape and one Guy Falkes.   So it was good.   A random sampling of that many New Yorkers would actually have more freaks.

I'm embarrassed I wasn't even really following it until yesterday.

I think that's so cool. The Chicago sign is awesome also. Really warms my heart, these filthy hippies who are not like you or I.

We've got (another) provincial election today. Ugh. I feel like I've been voting once every six months for the past couple years.

What's y'all's election? Just local stuff?

Here, not all the provinces have election this year. But lucky Ontario gets to be one of 'em. Maybe I'll go out there soon. 11:30am probably a good time, no crowds, etc.
