I hope Tampa Bay and the Red Sox both win tonight, because the prospect of a 163rd game, winner-take-all is just awesome.

I probably haven't watched a baseball game in two months. It's just too depressing this year for a Chicago fan.

http://www.huar.libsyn.com/super-peering-into-the-future

Well, my Super-Peers interview is now online!  I was nervous and I've been thinking about the things I wish I'd said and the things I wish I hadn't said.  I don't really have the nerve to listen to it myself right now, because I'd be too embarrassed.

But I thought some of you might enjoy listening, particularly those who have never heard my voice...except for the Space Truckin karaoke knnch.

I wish the interview had been more like 15 minutes, but HUAR's format is an hour, so....very tough to do.  But I'm glad for any promotion, so I did it.

I wish I'd talked more about how Jack Kirby influenced me...and I wish I'd mentioned Jim Steranko at all.

I talked a bit about how Legion of Super-Heroes inspired me, but I wish I'd mentioned the writers Jerry Siegel, Edmund Hamilton (both from NE Ohio), and teen prodigy Jim Shooter.

I did have the sense to talk about Cleveland being the birth place of super-heroes when Siegel and Joe Shuster created Superman.  But I wish I'd talked more about the comics legacy of NE Ohio, Harvey Pekar, R Crumb, etc.

At one point I mentioned comic writers who put a lot of ideas in their comics: Grant Morrison and Dan Slott.  I wish I'd remembered to mention Jonathan Hickman.

An hour interview? That would scare the shit out of me to do one that long. Good on you, sir.

I too, am of the "too slammed to post frequently" variety.  Which brings up a point about the current state of the economy...

If everyone is overworked, it seems to indicate an across the board increase in business in general. Which indicates people are becoming more flexible with their money. Which would suggest businesses should have an increase on revenue and would be willing to hire new employees to handle the increased workload. Which would not only help solve the current unemployment crisis, it would allow crappiteers more time to crappitize.  So what gives?

I'd say many of us are overworked because of an effort on the part of employers to wring more work out of fewer workers.

That sign West was posing with was awesome. Something to the effect of "Too bad the War on Poverty isn't a real war... then we could spend some money on it."
