"The chief problem about death, incidentally, is the fear that there may be no afterlife -- a depressing thought, particularly for those who have bothered to shave. Also, there is the fear that there is an afterlife but no one will know where it\'s being held."

i still watch fairly regularly.  has this even been brought up?  olbermann now does countdown every weeknight on al gore's Current TV, for those who may not have known.  it's the exact same format as the old countdown,  "worst persons" are once again called "worst persons" (instead of "^not really worst persons") and the "oddball" segment is now called "time marches on".  i don't think he has access to the same quality of guests/pundits/etc. as he did with msnbc.  otherwise, same old keith. that and he now takes nearly as many shots at his former network as he does fox.

This article on post-credits scenes in comic book movies drew my attention to one I didn't know about... apparently, in some prints (and in the DVD extras) that awful Wolverine movie ended with this lame kludge to crack back open the door for a Deadpool movie, even though, you know, he was decapitated and dead.

Bad quality, but basically, Deadpool reaches into the frame, picks up his own head, which then breaks the fourth wall and says "SHHHHH!"

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/tTn6SOlV9jU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/tTn6SOlV9jU</a>

Deadpool is one of Marvel's most popular characters believe it or not.  He just has a really random, absurd sense of humor and kids love him for some reason.

If he actually became a breakout character in the mainstream, would Warner Bros sue Marvel over Deadpool?

Deathstroke/Deadpool, Slade Wilson/Wade Wilson, same costume, both assassins.  It's obvious parody, so the law has to protect Marvel.

BUT we talk about creator rights in comics...and if creators under work-for-hire contracts should have any ownership rights.  Well, if DC ever made a fuss about Deadpool, Marvel is responsible not Rob Liefeld.  It would be editorial's fault.  However in Liefeld's defense, it was the writer Fabian Nicieza who decided to spell out the joke the name choice of Wade Wilson, to suggest a Marvel character is the brother of a DC character...but Nicieza just did that to mess with Liefeld for ripping off Deathstroke.

I have a hypothetical lawsuit.  Warner Brothers sues Marvel Entertainment over Deadpool rights.  Marvel sues Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza for damages, thus establishing a legal precedent that creators are responsible for characters they create under work-for-hire contracts, therefore they must have ownership.

Now go to the comix isles and talk about Jack Kirby's family.  He created the trademarked likenesses of Captain America, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men just for at start.

Just finished reading this excellent book about the US response to the Armenian genocide. I was shamefully uninformed about it. I knew there was an Armenian genocide but that's about it. It's pretty incredible how it's basically been expunged from the collective memory.

Ebert's (mostly positive) review of Rise of the Planet of the Apes is maybe best summed up by his closing line, "This is the movie you may have been expecting. No less, no more."

Hey, that's "Motormouth" Jones (Michael Winslow) in that pic, not Hightower (Bubba Smith).
