My dad's chemicals are all out of whack again. First, he started gaining weight rapidly (20 lbs.). Then the water pills he takes to counteract that depleted his potassium to the point where he had debilitating cramps. (His hands locked up and it really hurt.) He's in and out of the lab and the doctor's office again as they try to tweak his plan to get him straightened out.

Kinda sucks for him.

Tripp and Erik have funerals this week in their families, so I guess that isn't so bad.

For reals.

Here's a bit of good/interesting news.

They just found the earliest Hitchcock film known in New Zealand.   A silent film called The White Shadow.

They arent done fully restoring it yet, but here's a small clip they have released:

Peter Parker might be able to afford a Leica now that film is dying its slow, sad death. But in its day an M3 would have sold for about 3 grand in today's dollars. So yeah probably beyond the reach of a chronically broke high school student in Queens.

Peter Parker, photographer for the New York Daily Bugle and eponmymous hero of Ralph Bakshi's cartoon series Spiderman (1967), is shown in the opening credits sporting a Leica M3 with a softie release.

I think you'd still spend $3000 for the camera today...but a dollar is worth a lot less than it was in '67

I guess it's kind of silly to question how he could afford a Leica but not question that a radioactive spider could give him super-powers.

True. My guess would be that the illustrator just used the M3 body as inspiration. It was a popular camera at the time, and had a very modern, hip look. It still does really. You could get an M6 body today for around 6 or 7 hundred dollars and a 50mm f2 like it would have come with for about a grand. It's actually pretty amazing that a fifty year old film camera has held more than half of its value. One could reasonably speculate that if film had not been all but replaced by digital that it would have held or even increased in value since its release.

This article on post-credits scenes in comic book movies drew my attention to one I didn't know about... apparently, in some prints (and in the DVD extras) that awful Wolverine movie ended with this lame kludge to crack back open the door for a Deadpool movie, even though, you know, he was decapitated and dead.

Bad quality, but basically, Deadpool reaches into the frame, picks up his own head, which then breaks the fourth wall and says "SHHHHH!"
