Slow day, eh?

A propos of nothing... I find it interesting that right-wingers in the US and Canada harp on about the tyranny of government, and favour gun ownership because ‘the state should fear the people’, but their spending priorities are exactly those things which harden a tyrannical state against dissent: military, police and prisons.

It's Memorial Day in the US. So no one's at work (i.e. no one is bored enough to post here...  Wink )

Kurt, I enjoyed your script. Like, to the extent I wanted to read more and want to know what happens next. Seriously. So happy you're doing this! I hope it went well with the DP and location scouting and all that, too. Yay!!!!

Wow.  Thanks, Karen.  That's the best compliment.

I made some contacts over the weekend.  I met someone with video production experience.  I also gave my script to a couple artists to build certain props.

I shopped for a ram horn on ebay.

I only did virtual location scouting this weekend, but I'm putting together a pretty impressive list of gothic mansions in the area.  One of my inspirations for the series is all the creepy weird locations in NE Ohio.

I gave Amy a producer credit and put her in charge of casting.

Apropos nothing, does anyone want to hear my pitch for a much better Hangover sequel?

The four guys throw another bachelor party, but this time, they're hellbent on keeping things from getting out of hand. They book a luxurious security-heavy suite in a hotel and lock themselves in with a careful allotment of booze and cigars, a scheduled appointment with a carefully vetted stripper, in room gambling, and security guards to make sure no one goes out and no one unauthorized gets in. In their heads, this is still being badass.

And then they wake up to the sound of the cops ready to bust the doors in to get them and have no idea what the fuck happened.

They narrowly escape and are sort of stupidly proud to be on another adventure. But one by one, they piece together what they did the night before and to a man, it is L-A-M-E. They passed out watching tv, drunk-dialed their wives, Facebook-stalked the one that got away. So who did all the crazy shit? Identity thieves. They hunt them down but in the process realize that those guys are actual hellraisers and they're middle-aged dudes who need to grow up and let it go. What did they actually do the night before?  Lame innocent stuff. But the punchline is, these are the dudes they really are and the dudes they really want to be. They clear their names and go back to their "boring" lives with a new appreciation for them.

Anyway, that would be how I would write it.

That tendency never ceases to fascinate me.
