Government's defeat sets up election call

On one had, there may now be a chance that the conservatives will get the boot... On the other hand, I have no trust whatsoever on the judgement of my fellow citizens, and it is entirely possible that we will get stuck with a majority conservative government...  Bang Head Murder Suicide Exploding Head

Realistically, I'm expecting another minority government.  Hopefully, a liberal minority government propped up by the NPD, with occasional help from the Bloc.

But if we get a majority conservative government, maybe they'll be so bad that they will finally push Quebecers to overwhelmingly support independence!

The roomie and I were talking about exactly that. A minority (Liberal with NDP/Bloc Quebecois) would be ideal. But knowing the idiots who voted for Harper in the first place, could easily see another Conservative win. Ugh.

Asshole John Baird said something today about Canadians being tired of elections. Really? Did he ask all of us? Because I know plenty of people who would happily go to the polls again to try to prevent the Conservative Party from winning. And aren't we more tired of a government that's in such contempt of its citizenry? Two prorogues in, what, a year and a half isn't more contemptuous than calling another election. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Back in the days of liberal governments, I usually just merely disliked them... But the conservatives, I fucking despise them.  I don't remember ever having lived under such a bad government.  They're a small minded, stupid, arrogant, blindly partisan, irresponsible gang of ideological thugs that consistently govern by appealing to people's worse instincts.  I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

Hey, Emperor of the North is available for instant viewing on Netflix. If you've never seen it, it's a darned good movie.
