In my continuing effort to provide movie reviews long after they're relevant, I present you with my impressions of I,Robot.

It could have been a really good movie!   And thats what hurts so bad.   In fact, I have a theory that it was once a really good movie, and a team of marketers and script doctors went back and inserted extra scenes of Wil Smith cracking wise.

Everytime the movie got some steam going, either plot-wise or just old-fashioned action sequences, Wil Smith would slam on the brakes with some painful one liner or double take.

Everything else in the movie was pretty damn good, the visual design, the music, and especially the homage to Tron in the final sequence.

I think that I'll recut my own version WITHOUT jar-jar binks.

didn't see it.

But i did introduce my son to the old batman and robin show last night...actually it was the movie they made...with the riddler, joker, penquin (wack wack wack), catwoman (meow).

At one point the villians are in a sub and shoot a missle at the bat helicopter..the caped crusader and boy wonder are crashing to the ground...certain death.

Miraculously, they land in the big pile of foam rubber on display at the foam rubber convention.

Show your kid some of the Batman Animated series. Best incarnation ever. You can rent tapes or dvd's. Look for the ones that feature villains. And of course there's Mask of the Phantasm. Best Batman movie of all.

No, the dark one on cartoon network.

Hey check it out!

It's the new Lamar Records website.
If anybody wants to help us out with making it HTML we can probably shell out a couple of bucks.
It's all Flash stuff right now i think so you have to have the Shockwave plug-in.

Quick! (ha ha) call my wife...she might be able to salvage some. She called me this morning to see if she could vaccum the underbelly of the stove top since somehow all the strawberry quik had spilt down in it.

yesterday the two year old got stuck in the closet after the door knob broke and today a QuiK spillage.

It's always an adventure at the Ranch*

Stayed up late drueling over remastered Shaw Bros. titles. Woke up at 4 because I was so excited about the remastered Shaw Bros. titles. I think I need counseling.

speaking of lovely looks, do our quebecois colleagues know the visual stylings of montreal image makers Serigraphie Populaire?

i can remember when bands used to get in the van and go on tour.  nowadays, the Gig Posters go on tour.

the seripop people are coming to milwaukee tonight, and then hooking up with these cool kids i know over in madison who call themselves "The Little Friends of Printmaking" to head out to Seattle for Flatstock 5.

and while i'm on the topic of gig posters, i just discovered this gigposters.com site yesterday. it's rather sad that these are the only Grifters posters they have scanned. i had no idea the grifters once played with Jewel!?!  (if you read the comments on that one, you'll find oot it was not a double bill.  and some guy reports that the grifters "slayed" that night.)

so, tripp, in all of your free time when you're not settling into the new house or practicing/playing with all of your bands or worrying about delivering the BBQ sportswear on time, maybe you could share some of your stunning visuals with the world at that site.

ha! yeah, that guy is an old friend of ours from Orlando.

We didn't actually play with jewel. That was right at the time she was hitting. Save Yourself was just climbing the charts and we kept seeing her posters and press on our tour and we all had a crush on her. Ok, on her boobies. But yeah, we thought we were playing a show together and I was planning on buying Jewel a lot of drinks. But it turned out the Sapphire Supper club (?) had a main venue and a smaller one and we were at the smaller one.
BUT we were standing around playing pool with the promoter and these other two guys...it was this weird shaped pool table. Like a tetris piece. the bendy kind. And we're telling the promoter how we wanted to meet jewel and her fabulous boobies or words to that effect. We perhaps got a little bawdy with our language and then it turned out the two guys we were playing pool with were in her band.
So I imagine they went to the big venue and told Jewel how there was this band called the Grifters that wanted to gang-rape her.
