Yet another big-ass NYT profile on former Memphian (and high school classmate of mine) Heather Armstrong, aka "The Queen of the Mommybloggers," aka "That Broad Who Makes a Million Dollars a Year Writing About Her Kids and Her Dog."

Poor Simon is sick AGAIN. Flu this time. Had to take him to the doctor yesterday. His newfound ability to express himself in sentence form made it even more sad. After being weighed, prodded, poked, etc. for nearly half an hour, Simon turned to me with moist eyes and said, "Daddy, this room is scary. I don't like this room. Let's go."

I cannot wait for Mama to come back (March 9th!) so that the poor kid can quit spending 40 hours a week in the open petri dish that is toddler day care. He's been sick more times in an average month since last summer than he had been his entire life previous. I'd be inclined to beat myself up and blame it on him being in a discount daycare, but my friend Shylo's kid is going through the same thing in his fancy shmancy daycare he had to interview to get into, so I guess this is just how it is.

That super sucks.  Poor Simon.     But just think of how smart and powerful his immune system is getting.  (silver lining?)

A_____   has been powerful sick the last week.   Zoctor put him on an abuterol inhaler.     He said he was feeling good last night, JUST in time for their trip to Florida, so glad he got it out of the way beforehand at least.

maybe it's my hangover talking but listening to Thee Oh Sees at low volume coming out of my co-worker's computer is really irritating..  It sounds like someone accidentally left the PA system on at a used car lot down the street..

Noise-ish bands are sometimes only good at high volume.

Thee Oh Sees (at low volume) sound like someone cranked the reverb on their amp then just started shooting rubber bands at the guitar from across the room.

Dragoon practice last night... we've had an influx lately of really really good shrimp  so I don't remember much...  we're all in love with   Bobby's new songs so we're probably gonna find some way of squeezing them onto the record.. Also, I think we might use the acoustic version of Bar Car..  which means I have to hook up the ole 8 track and start going through cassette tapes to find the original recording...  The upside is we only have 2 more songs to record ( Donut   and Push/Pull) AND now the record is pretty much fleshed out to more of a full-length release..
