My doctor told me that steroids I am on "might cause an upset stomach." She should have said, "Find yourself a nice thick book and leave it in the bathroom."

Not only does Georgia state Rep. Bobby Franklin want abortion classified as murder, according to his latest bill, the police will have to investigate all miscarriages to ensure that they were "spontaneous." ...any time a miscarriage occurs, whether in a hospital or without medical assistance, it must be reported and a fetal death certificate issued. If the cause of death is unknown, it must be investigated. If the woman can't tell how it happened, than those Police can ask family members and friends how it happened. Hospitals are required to keep records of anyone who has a spontaneous abortion and report it. Yup, we've been waiting for someone to suggest this--and Franklin has. Needless to say, there are no exceptions allowed. Not for rape victims. Not for incest victims. Not to save the life and health of the mother (the fetus must get equal care).

Re: the steroids, Jeff, I think it depends on what kind of (no pun) shit you're given. I know a lot of people who get steroid(al) stuff for various muscle things and have next to no side effects/issues but that's not nearly as intense as for bronchitis. (BTW, I've had bronchitis multiple times and only ever get antibiotics so yours must be pretty major. Dogspeed!) My nephew had it teamed up (a pretty heavy dose) with his chemo treatment and there was no (extra) pooping in his case, just ravenous appetite and mood issues. ('Roid rage and frustration trying to figure out why things are so weird in a then 3-year-old is pretty disconcerting.) I'm sure the combo of drugs has been well thought out. Honestly. If the doc suggests sticking close to the loo, then by all means, do so, but it might not be nearly as bad as you think. Worse-case scenario, right?

Yeah, I just sent a long email to a friend in Madison, but the short/crappitized version is "WTF, girl?"

Just watched a Daily Show thing on that and, while it is a major source of concern, it IS ridiculous to compare any of those rallies to what happened in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, etc. Gawd. (Yes, I know it's not real news. But it helps keep things in perspective.)

I'm not going the right to negotiate fair wages and benefits to the right not to get shot in the street for wanting to vote.

But I won't downplay it either. This is not a small thing. This is an opening salvo in the next wave of Republican attack.

It seriously bums me out.

I know, it is not a small thing. But it's not bloody (yet) at least.

Nah. Putting down dogs is sadder because you have to choose it.
