I dunno, maybe "a lot" is overstating it (I overstate a lot)

And I'm friends with a lot of old high school friends because I don't want to seem like a dick for not accepting their friend requests.

Sorry on a very slow streetcar, and can't post properly. But yeah seems like the times you talk about FB it's often about how 'you showed them' (ending up with hott wife, succeeding post-G____s, etc). You don't have to prove anything to your past or present.

My sis is on FB to post updates about what she's making for dinner so could be worse.

I'm kinda joking about that stuff because that IS what a lot of FB users get out of it.. And I do too although I'm exaggerating any malicious intent.. It'd be more honest of me to say that I'm proud of these things in my life and I like letting old friends know I turned out ok... It's not a bitterness thing I swear..

Anyway I prolly have it way wrong, Tripp. I just like the anti-FB kids idea about finding meaning and happiness from within, instead of from being "important" with 8356 fake friends. That fits my philosophy. Not that I have any happiness from within either, but my real-life friends help me along

Probably the worst thing about FB is how much time I spend reading the updates of people I barely know. Not that their updates are unimportant.. It's just a lot of time after a while.

I agree.  Some people believe in their FB lives way too much..

I also like reconnecting with old band friends.. I recently got back in touch with a lot of the dudes in Red Red Meat, as well as my ole friend Phil from Rex, a bunch of the ole Louisville girls who all live in Portland now..  and man, it's true... Portland is like the 1990's in stasis. All those friends look exactly the same... Hair all down in their face... dressed like chimney sweeps..
