This kind of story makes me grit my teeth:

Insurance company drops cancer patient minutes before he goes into surgery because of two cent underpayment

In regards to the whole "be fit" thing - last week, I had a check-up with my urologist (no kidney stones!) and a gastroenterologist. The latter was because I've had a couple of bouts of week-long stomachaches over the last year or so - he put me on Prilosec (which cured my symptoms) but is still going to do an endoscopy and colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. Oh joy.

But on a positive note, I've been counting calories since New Years - with minimal exercise (mostly playing Wii 30-45 minutes a day), I've dropped 9 pounds so far. Still have 30 to go...

My thinking is, my wife already likes me and I'm not trying to model jeans or anything, so I am not too worried about the weight part specifically. Being in better shape would be nice and that will include some weight loss, naturally. But the main thing is, I'd like to be stronger. In college, I had to take a PE elective and weightlifting was the only thing that fit into my schedule. I remember kind of enjoying it. And since I'm built like a linebacker, I may as well work out like one.

Treadmills make me want to die.

I yoga all year long and I cycle in summer.  I don't pay much attention to what I eat: I eat I'm hungry and I stop when I'm not.  I don't smoke and I drink very little.   I have weighed the same since I was in my early 20s...
