Non-Trek fans are certainly allowed to enjoy the movie.  I mean, that is the point of the reboot, to draw new, non-Trek fans.

I'M SO GLAD IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!! AND A HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!

i've been working 12 hour days the past couple of weeks and i'm so over it. only 2 weeks to go 'til our big event is over, though, so things will def be different after that, thank god.

my ex b___ is flying in this afternoon- he was working up in sacramento and decided to swing by LA for the weekend before heading back to memphis. so it's gonna be a touristastic weekend for me! what's everybody else doing this weekend?Huh

Catching up on sleep. Oh, and I'll probably watch Ben-Hur and Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.

Yes.  Like the US, the Canadian government was scared shitless of anything related to "commies", so we got our labour day at the same time as you, instead of May 1rst like the rest of the world.

ah good to know...so my Canadian work mates will be off. I being a contractor get no holidays...but knowing everyone else is off will make it a nice easy day.

After careful polling yesterday, I've got Pop-Tart World, Oneida block party, and Thief of Baghdad.

Then probably a brooklyn cyclones game on Monday...  unless I can score some really cheap Yankee tix on stubhub.  (unlikely on Labour Day)

Watched Star Trek again last night, with a couple of good friends who "loved" it. I tried my damndest to turn off my intellect and experience it emotionally. It still sucked. Both of my friends admitted that the more times they saw it, the less they liked it (one fell asleep). Afterwards, when I decided to up my initial review from F+ to C-, they told me that if I didn't "get it" (from an emotional standpoint) the first time, I'd probably never get it. I guess it's like hating a Harlan Ellison story or a Twilight Zone episode. You just can't "unsee" it to have that first experience again.
