I find the new Flaming Lips record, Embryonic, to be compulsive listening.  It creeps up on you and works its way into your head.  It shouldn't be that good, it just is.  I hated the last record, and am kind of half and half on "Yoshimi", but this is the best thing they've done since The Soft Bulletin.  And I think that record is a masterpiece, personally.  I like the Lips and enjoy the fact that they wear their Psychedelic Weirdo Saviors mantle with such aplomb and good humor.  I haven't seen them in ten years and I am jealous of you, Eric.

Re: Jon Spencer, they're playing here Saturday night at the Horseshoe, when Pogo! is here. Thought about getting tix, but...meh. I haven't really followed 'em in years either.
