She usually ends up falling asleep on the downstairs sofa, which is good since I don't have to wake up next to a smelly drunk.

Well that was just fucking great.

Oneida did 4 long-form jams.   The last one was very Devo-esque.   Including some herky jerky dancing on stage.  Catchy as hell.

Pat, yes, go see the Lips.   They were the best I've seen them in a while.    I think there's enough information out there, that I can say that Steven dug himself into a booze hole over the last few years.   They cancelled those shows so he could go to rehab out in Arizona.  he's fully clean and sober now and looks amazing.   Seriously looks 10 years younger and life back in his eyes.   Made me so fucking happy.   annnnd, his playing is just phenomenal.

The setlist is much more live band oriented, less of the click-track/pre-fab orchestral stuff.   They do a fair amount of stuff from the new album (which I can't say I was blown away by)  but live it makes perfect sense.   Everything is more give and take exploring and less broadway musical.

(happy sigh)    twas a good night.

Nice!  I wish I was there:  I'm not a big fan of later day Flaming Lips, but I love Oneida.

In other news, I'm not a huge baseball fan, but it's the end of July and our lowly bankrupt Texas Rangers are in first place in the AL West.

S____ would like to make it a full-time thing.. Easier said than done I guess.

sean and brandon (you win instantly) both help run the Gulf Coast School of Music (formerly GC School of Rock but they got a cease and desist order)  which is basically a full time rock camp.  they love it.  the only drawback is these kids don't have the patience to learn chuck berry and the beatles first.  they want to go right into mars volta and tool and shit.

blues explosion still playing?  the last one i got was damage,  which was actually pretty good after the piece of self-parody shit that was plastic fang.  i used to love those guys but the novelty got old.  curious as to what they are up to.  russell simmons is a badass.
