Well that was just fucking great.

Oneida did 4 long-form jams.   The last one was very Devo-esque.   Including some herky jerky dancing on stage.  Catchy as hell.

Pat, yes, go see the Lips.   They were the best I've seen them in a while.    I think there's enough information out there, that I can say that Steven dug himself into a booze hole over the last few years.   They cancelled those shows so he could go to rehab out in Arizona.  he's fully clean and sober now and looks amazing.   Seriously looks 10 years younger and life back in his eyes.   Made me so fucking happy.   annnnd, his playing is just phenomenal.

The setlist is much more live band oriented, less of the click-track/pre-fab orchestral stuff.   They do a fair amount of stuff from the new album (which I can't say I was blown away by)  but live it makes perfect sense.   Everything is more give and take exploring and less broadway musical.

(happy sigh)    twas a good night.

S____ said that yesterday they had a small problem.  One of last year's camp-goers is an intern this year. They have real musicians who shepherd the girls into bands and they basically learn one song to perform this weekend..  Well, the young intern started making her class learn a song she'd written..!  So S_____ had to take her aside and slap her around some.

PHOTO BY MIKE BROWN Camp a salute to empowerment through making music Nayla Nassif, 10, shields her ears as Adalyn Meeks, 10, wails on a keyboard Monday during the first day of the Delta Girls Rock Camp at Hutchison School. Campers were busy forming bands and figuring out what kind of songs they want to write for the showcase that will conclude the weeklong camp. The finale concert by camper bands is open to the public and will be at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Wiener Theater at Hutchiso

Glad you had a grand ol' time at the show, Capt.

Good look at the dentist, Tripp.

I have never seen Mullholland Dr., but think about it every time it's mentioned.

S_ _ _'s been on a major binge, so I've been even more isolated than usual. We don't really hang out when she's getting hammered every night. As a result, I've gotten pretty far into that Jared Diamond book and also the Jonathan Lethem novel. I don't usually have 2 books going at the same time, but I guess anything's possible when you don't have to work for a couple of months.

I hope S_ _ _ isn't planning on being wasted the whole time we're in Galveston.

Of course we never talk about it on account of the fact that I hate confrontations. Plus, when I've tried to talk about it with her in the past it just makes her drink more.
