"The chief problem about death, incidentally, is the fear that there may be no afterlife -- a depressing thought, particularly for those who have bothered to shave. Also, there is the fear that there is an afterlife but no one will know where it\'s being held."

Man, this Shirley Sherrod story is making me feel really gross.

I've disagreed with plenty of the calculations that Obama administration has made over the years, but felt like there were at least smart people doing their best in the fucked up political environment that exists right now.

This was just ineptitude and playing the game badly.     Not one person stopped and asked "wait.. this is Breitbart we're talking about.   Perhaps somebody should see if there's a shred of truth to it?".

Blech.

Looks like LA's FINE is going to be putting out a Cue The Moon record.

I forgot to say Congratulations!

I'd like to hear that Signals... band you've been raving about.

I went to the book store with S_ _ _ and managed not to buy anything. That is what I call self-restraint. I've got a stack of books I want to read, and I'm determined to go through all of them before I buy another book.

S_ _ _ is wanting to go to Puerto Rico for a few days. Her passport is expired and you don't need one to go there. I'm not as in to the beach scene as she is, but I do what I can to keep my woman happy. This'll be the first vacation where I'm not gonna travel with shrimp. I wonder how easy/dangerous it is to get some while I'm there...

The best thing to do would be to get out there and apologize and tell us it'll never happen again.

It does make you wonder how much the Obama administration is caught up in a cycle of reacting to any story that smacks of scandal, but I'm angrier at the liars than the duped. We basically have a media that's absolutely scared shitless of the slightest insinuation that they might be "liberal" and acts accordingly. And in this case that made for immediate saturation of a story that wasn't remotely true. Fox News's reaction is predictable, but a lot of other outlets were happy to run with it too. But, yeah, the white house is supposed to be made up of grown-ups who can ignore the noise.

Okay, I missed the setup for that, but looking back, I see it now.
