OKCupid has a interesting little article/study about the lies people tell in online dating. Most of these lies are easy to guess, but the methodology they use to examine them is funny.

Most interesting of all is something I have long suspected: more than 80% of the people who identify themselves on the site exclusively seek out men and women. Specifically, OKCupid identifies large blocks of young men who claim to be bi who actually only seek out other men (not comfortable being gay yet) and 75% of the young women who identify as bi favor exclusively men or women.

I'm not one of those folks who doesn't believe some people are legitimately bisexual. Clearly some people are. But the notion that 75-80% of "bisexuals" are either gay folks not entirely comfortable calling themselves homosexual or straight people kidding themselves about how adventurous they really are? That fits pretty well in with my own non-scientific observations.

I am changing some of my opinions on 90s music as well. Some of the popular stuff I used to defend I am no longer so confident is holding up and/or am sick of hearing. And some of the indie stuff I used to think was genius now sounds like dated, shallow gimmickry.

I routinely go months without checking FB now. I guess my experience was typical--resisted, gave in, liked it, found some old friends, lost interest, moved on.
