Stephen King could use big chunks of most of his books edited out.

"Restored to the author's/director's original intentions" is a phrase that can bode well or ill, depending.
Sometimes, edits are good.
Anyone ever see that silly ass expanded cut of
The Abyss
? The revised ending is snort-milk-through-your-nose unintentionally funny. Basically, you get the water aliens showing Ed Harris's characters a montage that conveys--about as subtly as that poetry you wrote in a spiral notebook in high school--that mankind is damaged and violent. But they save us... 'cause of love.
That reminds me of Apocalypse Now Redux. The extra scenes sucked, in particular the whole french plantation in the jungle part.

Never bothered with that because I'd seen all the footage in that bootleg of the assembly cut that was going around. Did they include those awful scenes Duvall insisted on that "humanize" his character?

Whew, we moved this weekend, and in case anyone needs a reminder, moving sucks. Very happy to be in the new place, but last week packing and moving things was just a long blurry nightmare.

I hate moving. Hate it! I'm an inveterate accumulator of shit, a real pack-rat: moving involves packaging metric tones of records, books, gear and stuff I should have thrown away years ago, but never could. It's a pain. I haven't moved in 9 years, and I don't intend to move any time soon.
I sympathise!

It is, it's the first floor, basement and backyard of a two-family house. Pleasant-seeming couple upstairs were moving in this weekend as well. I can tell we'll be really happy there so I shouldn't complain. I have to move my painting studio tomorrow and then I'm done moving for the rest of my life (who'm I kidding, this is my seventh apartment in ten years)

CBC news front page title: Queen welcomed to Halifax
Radio-Canada (the French Canadian CBC) front page: Johanna Sigurdardottir, the lesbian Prime Minister of Iceland, becomes the first head of state to legally marry her partner.

I'm guessing it was the sexy stuff cut from Stranger in a Strange Land. It's a real free love book.
Will you share water with me?
Good choice on the book, Ev. It's probably Heinlein's most universally appealing book, maybe his most adult.

We're in Astoria. Sort of hard to believe that I've been in that neighborhood for over ten years now.
