Either way, unless the Rangers have a major meltdown (which is always a possibility), they'll be going to the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

The natural thing to wonder, with 30 teams is, why aren't there just 15 in each league, with three divisions of five in each? The answer is that if the leagues had odd numbers of teams, there would have to be an interleague game nearly every day. So the split has to be 14/16 instead of 15/15. Hence, weirdly sized divisions.

Bud Selig is the biggest jackass in baseball history.

That makes him sound like the GW Bush of baseball. I think of him more as the Herbert Hoover.

The only two teams that worry me in the AL are the Twins and the Rays. I'm pretty confident in the Rangers ability to hang with anybody else, but those two teams are the scary ones this year.

They've kinda been staggering to the finish line, but our little Texas Rangers could clinch a spot today.

The Indians are battling the Royals this weekend for last place in the Central Division. This is like our World Series this season.

I'd take the Indians in that series.

Holy shit, Roy Halladay threw a no-hitter in the postseason. Let's see you come back from that, Reds.

Doesn't a Yankee sound like someone who is being yanked?

Rangers made it through a playoff round for the first time ever! Baseball fans around here are in uncharted territory. Showdown with the evil Yankees starts Friday. I don't know, but I think Texas has a good shot at winning this series.

I'm rooting for the Rangers from here on out. I was for the Braves, but uh...

I am happy for you. And Cliff Lee had me rooting too being an Indian Cy Young.
I find myself pulling for CC Sabathia despite his pinstripes.
Hope we can see those 2 go against each other. That's as proud as an Indian fan can be this time of year.
The Rays series conflicted me because my mom lives in Sarasota. She roots for them. I kind of like the upstart Yankee killers...but they have the worst fans. They don't deserve it anyway.
