Not sure why it took me so long, but watched Mulholland Drive yesterday.      Great fucking movie.   Both lead actresses were the bomb.    Great script too, dreamy but still satisfying.

So in case anyone should go back 8 years in a time machine, I'm recommending you check it out.

I thought the two halves of the movie were reverse images of each other, like going from one parallel universe to another, the moment were the switch happens being when they look into the box behind the restaurant.  

That, and Lynch satirising how Hollywood likes to pretend it is, and how he thinks it really works.

That's my read too.

Did you know Mulholland Drive was originally a TV pilot for ABC I think?  They rejected it, so Lynch added some more scenes and made it a feature.

Hmp.   Thats a good reading too.    There was just something about how the first half cleaned up all the suffering and regret that Betty had in the ending reality.    Like how the director in reality(last part) just didn't like her for the part, but in fantasyworld (first part), there was a massive compiracy to FORCE the director not to pick her.
