Just downloaded Orca Bitte last night, after Jesse's story.    Gonna jam that muss this weekend.

I'm with you on the yoga.  I tried going to J_____s yoga studio a few times and just couldn't stand all the packaged spirituality stuff.   "mind ventilation" etc.

But I just set up a yoga corner for S_____ in the basement, cuz she has some tapes she swears by.   I'm gonna give it another go.   Figure I can fast-forward if the chakra talk starts up.

I got DVDs from an instructor that keeps the bullshit down to a minimum.  His name is Rodney Yee.

The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the author has the bad habit of talking about events as if he actually knew for sure what went on, to the point were he actually describes the feelings of the persons involved, as if he was an omniscient narrator of a work of fiction.  All we know about these times comes from a relatively small number of sources, and historians spend a lot of time arguing and speculating about the meanings and sense of what's on those documents.  There are multiple interpretations.  You wouldn't have guessed it reading Tom Holland.

Anyway, in spite of this, I'm going to order Persian Fire.

That's the narrative part of narrative history. Yeah, it's all speculation and conjecture. It can make history a little more colorful, but I remember thinking the same thing. I think I may have even rolled my eyes a few times.

Could someone put the Dirty Projectors record in The Hey, I Wanna Play You Something Isles, if it's not too much trouble and pretty please with a cherry on top?

I used to have a great yoga teacher in queens. No mystical stuff except for a brief meditation at the end, totally challenging workout, really great. There are definitely more or less spiritual teachers out there. But I also went to a class once at another studio that was about fifteen minutes of chanting. And a coworker a few years ago worked at a studio where they ended every session with, I shit you not, "group laughter."

I've only heard a few songs. Mainly on my friend Lea's radio show but I like what I've heard of the Dirty Projectors..  You were saying they played with an orchestra lately.?  That kills me that a band can go from "i just discovered them "  to "performing with an orchestra"..
