ch-ch-ch-check it oot:

LEELS "Cannonballs & Silver Tongues" (Emperor Jones - EJ 63) CD $12.00
***The second offering from this crack band of HOME and MERINGUE members (ERIC MORRISON of the former, TREY CONNER and CHRIS STURGEON of the latter) sounds like a classic rock reccord such as The Wall through a rootsier Prozac filter. Cannonballs & Silver Tongues is the result of many, many hours in LEELS' Devils Isle Wet Lab home studio distinguished by heavily layered vocal passages, fleshed out with brass, wind, and strings, and balanced with spontaneous cartoon-like sparks-as if Rumours had been recut by the Fugs. Thirteen tracks.

that purple prose purloined from this week's Midheaven Mailorder new release list.

and now, this:

HALFACRE GUNROOM "Wrecked" (Deathwish - ICS 02 ) CD $13.25
***HALFACRE GUNROOM are a melancholy alt-country/rock band from the black heart of Memphis, Tennessee. Wrecked, the band's debut full-length, was crafted at Easley-McCain Recording under the guiding hand of DOUG EASLEY, and shines with honesty, passion, and genuine humility.

so, is "the black heart of Memphis" anywhere near midtown?

I once tied a rubber band around the base of my prose and it turned purple too.

The black heart of Memphis is located in the procession of Joaquin Phoenix-as-Johnny Cash's drinking entourage as Bamah stalks.
