I liked it..(A Serious Man) ... it was just another one of their movies where I kept wondering if there was a point or if the point was that there's not a point.

A lot of people found it depressing. I didn't take it seriously enough to think it's depressing.
It just feels like a big joke to me.
Certainly there are great scenes in it. And the Coens have never really made a bad movie. Well, Lady Killers was close to a bad movie.

A Serious Man was pretty good.. Sometimes I can't tell if the Coens are over my head or if they're just being obtuse. I felt like there was a subtext going on that I wasn't aware of and when I looked up a cast member on IMDB I noticed that the trivia section mentioned that there were similarities between the main character and Job from the bible.... wow. who cares... I liked it pretty much. It got a few solid laughs out of me. But I probably won't ever watch it again.
I described that movie as "Cohen's bros. take on the Job story" a few weeks ago, when I saw it.

I thought the movie was hilarious! I think a lot of people don't appreciate black humour. And one thing that can Be said about the Cohen Bros. is that their humour is pitch black.

Sorry to disappoint but they're just xmas cards hanging from yarn. My Gramma Dow (mom's side, not the eye-tie side, obvs, which has ROCK in the name) thought that was a good way to display them.

You prolly knew that and were being facetious. But I choose to be as innocent as I was, wearing red, green, yellow, and whatever the fuck colour my tights were.
still think they look pretty cool, in a nostalgic kind of way. wasn't being facetious at all. maybe i just gravitate towards all things white trash. even if i didn't realize it was such. it's in my

The Road was really good but I don't ever want to see it again. Also, it messed up my weekend.. It was like a live-action adaptation of all my nightmares.. So I'll give it props for that..
We felt the exact same way in our house.
