I'm not tough, I'm just being logical. Since the beginning of December, this stone has caused me acute pain 5 times. The first two times were for less than an hour and I didn't even know what it was, the third time was scary enough to send me to the ER. Since then, I've had two more "episodes" : last week, which lasted for 4 hours and involved (sorry about this) pissing some blood - I called my Dr. then and he said that it was normal - and Sunday, which lasted for 13 agonizing hours and prompted the x-ray. Since the xray revealed that the fucker was indeed moving down, I figure that I might as well see the thing through rather than be put under general anesthesia and have an invasive device pull the thing out. If the stone gets stuck or puts my health at risk, I'll be running to the hospital. But at this point, I think a surgical procedure is a little premature.

If you were in the same situation, would you guys really opt for surgery at this point?

Oh, I'd prefer to avoid surgery (though I really like the post-surgery drugs!). But I'd also prefer not to be in pain for 13 hours (and having had period cramps for two-day stretches, I know that to be the case). So kind of a mixed bag.

I ate salad for dinner. It seemed the least effort (well, slightly more effort than opening a package, or ordering take-out) while still being food. Yep, good times.

I was thinking I'm the target audience for The Lovely Bones - those of us wondering how they're ("they" being, you know, The Man) going to fuck up such a graceful (and gracious) story about, basically, forgiveness.

I would endure the pain too, but only if I could make sure that the fucker keeps moving.  Are you going to get x-rayed again soon?
