Happy New Year, everyone. Just finished reading a week's worth of posts... not much to add. Visited Heather's family in the Bay Area for X-mas - my parents were in San Francisco visiting my sister, so we saw them, too. Spent a couple of hours at the Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio. Heather's mom got us a Wii. Actually glad we're still thought of as kids. Back in LA - saw Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Loved it. Why are they only showing it on two screens in the whole country? Had another kidney stone attack on December 30 at one in the morning. Didn't go to the hospital this time. Just took a vicodin and curled up on the bathroom floor. Went to Canter's on Fairfax for a late lunch yesterday, which turned out to be our anniversary dinner (Heather and I were married 13 years ago on New Year's Eve). Came home, napped, watched Inglourious Basterds on blu-ray, fell asleep. We were awakened at midnight by fireworks. Kissed. Went back to sleep.

And now you know what I did.

So we're even.

Hi.

Sounds very lovely. Except for the kidney stone part. Yikes!

We had Inglourious Basterds to watch, too. But we got home at 11:30 or so last night from some other friends of Ryan's, so just watched a 30 Rock ep or two instead, smooched at midnight, drank Prosecco, blabbity blah, did it, then were asleep by 1:30-ish.

Guess we'll watch the movie tomorrow...

blurgh..

I hadn't even made it to the living room chair with my coffee today before getting some rather annoying news..  but more on that later...

Savvy's party was a blast.  S___ made tater tot casserole which is sorta like green bean casserole but with a base of tater tots and cream cheese.  There was quite a good spread but not many people  seemed to be availing themselves of any of it. So I stole a tray of spring rolls which were quite delicious.
Spent a long time talking to  Savvy's dad . Actually I ended up hanging with the 'old crowd' much of the evening. Savvy's cape was pretty cool.  She looked like she'd just ordered a hit on somebody.
A couple of times I fell into the old trap of blanking out on someone's story mid-conversation then having no idea why their story was suppose to be funny so I'd just kinda feign interest then laugh when it felt appropriate. But overall, a really good time.
We split right before midnight and went to the McStay's where there wasn't really much of a party going on but it was nice to ring it in with a small group of buds.
Only slightly hungover today. Shouldn't have had that whiskey on top of the champagne but whatevs..

I know I've been gone for a week, but since when do we have three active conversations in the main room? My little brain can't handle it. And what is the crappy news?

Yeah!  Frankly, we're starting this year with the wrong attitude.  While we forward looking individuals are here posting on the correct thread, a few crappiteers refuse to let go of 2009 and keep posting on the December 31st thread.

And then, of course, there are those who start a crappy new year thread.  You better have a good explanation, Chad!

I have a very good explanation.  But in the interest of not shooting myself in the foot; I am staying mum until Monday.

The long and short of it is I got fired.

Oh, that sucks! My condolences, Chad.

As far as I'm concerned, you can start as many crappy new year threads as you need.
