I'm too old to remember what I listened to over the past 12 months.

But I remember having a lot of fun with The Thermals' We Were Sick, Japandroids' Post Nothing, and Ty Segall's S/T (though think that was 2008). Pllus aforementioned Reigning Sound/Gosdin Bros.

I'm liking the new Califone so far and new Os Mutantes (though have only had opportunity to listen through each twice). And the new Chris Page solo record (he's an Ottawa guy in case you didn't already figure it out from my not-so-secret-crush postings from the past Wink ).

I sincerely can't remember what else is "new." Like Jeff, did a lot of revisiting of older......

Ooh a Gene Clark thing. The Byrds (and related acts) would be a fine candidate for the next step on my remedial immersion thing.

Nice one. That goes to the top of the list.

Also on the list: early David Lee Roth=era Van Halen. Fuck you, those guys rock. At least the singles did anyway. I'm curious if they might be worth a spin. Pat might be the one to ask, as his occasional love for well-done cock rock mirrors my own...

Gonna see if this works...

World’s coolest homeless dude. "Mustard" was invited into the studio of “The Opie and Anthony Show” on Sirius XM (never heard of it), apparently as part of their “homeless shopping spree” promotion. When he arrived, he informed the hosts that he’s also something of a musician. So they gave him a guitar. And then this happened:

Thanks.

Best regards,

Vern Gosdin had a remarkable voice. It's fucking cool. If you can't find (and I'm sure that you can), I can get it to ya.

JSG: if you want to use html embed code you can, you just have to enclose it in these tags:

Code:
[html]html giobberish here[/html]

However, Vimeo is one of the sites whose clips are set up to autoembed. All you need to do is paste the url in by itself with no other tags or code and the site will take care of the rest.

i am so bad about listening to new stuff. if something doesn't grab me immediately from the first listen, i never go back and revisit it. so i rarely get into new bands unless somebody whacks me over the head with them. so basically, i reallyreallyreally loved In Ear Park, i also reallyreally love Watch Me Fall (jay reatard), and i like about 3 songs on the new wilco album. sad.

one of my goals in LA is to broaden my musical horizons. i'll let jesse take care of most of that for me, too- he's way good at it.
