Weekend was very fun.    Christmasfied the house.    Did the full on light display on the house for the first time ever.   The boys were super digging that.

Then, yep, Charlie Brown, snowball fights and hot cocoa.

Happy birthday, Pear Harbor.

They're flying a bunch of vintage war planes over Manhattan today.

Lets hope they won't crash into any buildings!

I am a sentimental bastard who adores the trappings of his youth, holiday stuff and tv specials, in particular.

But I always hated that Charlie Brown Xmas special. Bored the shit out of me even as a child. It's continuing popularity baffles me. Lots of people I like hold it near and dear, so there's obviously something to it. But it does nothing for me.

It wasn't part of my youth.  And I don't think I've never watched it in its entirety.  But I like the music.

yeah, charlie brown christmas (the special and the soundtrack) IS my christmas. it was completely a part of my youth. my mom would start playing the soundtrack the first or second week of december and it wouldn't stop until new years. we would watch an old copy of it that my dad taped from CBS over and over and over again. it's actually kind of hard for me to watch it in my adult years 'cause it makes me so emotional and nostalgic. i have to limit myself to once a year and time the viewing very carefully so i don't become a total mess. weird, huh?

What I find interesting is that every year, the other kids seem to get meaner and meaner.

I totally cringe at the insults now  "BOY ARE YOU STUPID CHARLIE BROWN", whereas they didn't make any impact when I was a kid.

Had to take Ned to the Emergency Vet last night at midnight.  THAT's always fun when you're drunk.!  He's fine. Urethral blockage again. We know the signs now so we got him in early which probably saved us $300 and saved Neddie an infection..  I had to go back this morning and pick him up then take him to our regular vet.. So, it's been a morning full of vet's offices.

yeah, and Charlie Brown never really offered up a solution for dealing with jerky kids..  He always just kinda took it and then he'd take it out on his dog.
