we had a live show last night with councilwoman janis fullilove (again). she is so awesome. the topic last night was the Tennessee Equality Project, a civil rights group for the GLBT community which fullilove supports (a very controversial thing for a black woman in the memphis city council to do). i had prepared myself for an hour of bible-beating crazies calling in, but instead we were overwhelmed with calls in support of the legislation that TEP is trying to push forward, and also in support of the sweet little transgendered girl we had on as a guest. there were only 3 calls that got offensive ("uh, whut exactly IS he? is that a man or a wuman?") and/or bible-beating. i couldn't believe it.

all this is to say: i was very proud of memphis last night. yay.
