I really don't have anything to say. Guess I could give you the Dad update. It's a mixed bag. While it's great to finally have a treatment plan in place (so we know what to expect), it's all just so sad and scary -- an emotional ride I didn't have to be on. Anyway, here's the latest update (and thanks for indulging me, as ever).

After several weeks waiting for oncologist appointment (and a lovely 5.5 hours of tests and consultations at the cancer clinic on Monday), it goes like this:

Chemo is to start this coming Monday (IV-administered version, unlike what my nephew had -- which was a "permanent" port surgically placed in his chest) for 5 days. (So basically all next work week.)

Then off for 3 weeks.

Then chemo/radiation combo for 5 WEEKS, which pretty much means during xmas-time.

Then a break for 3 weeks.

Repeat. Repeat... Etc.

Basically it works out to about 5 months in total, with no guarantee that they'll get it all (the cancer is in his lymph nodes in several areas, including his stomach, and up near his esophagus), so he might have to go through all of this again in another year. Or in another two years. At least the docs are being realistic.

He had his CT scan yesterday to measure him for the radiation. Then he has to maintain his weight (within a couple of pounds either way, which sucks because he's still scrawny from the surgery at only 150 pounds) from that until the radiation starts 4 weeks from now, so that the measurements are still accurate.

Good times.

Trying to keep positive to help the folks fight this fight. But it ain't easy some days.

Anyway, thanks, as ever for your ongoing support.

Had to vent eventually, I guess. I just don't usually know what to say. Not only do I not want to bum people out, I find it hard to really articulate what's going on, since I'm all over the map, emotionally. But there's today's version of things. Can't guarantee I'll always be so lucid.

Then again, I drink. So I can't guarantee I'll ever be lucid.
