I'll start your day off with cuteness. Here's Simon with Mila, the nice little Hungarian baby Matilda wants him to marry.

Mila is a dinosaur, by the way. Simon actually kind of scares the crap out of her. She's at the "Maybe I feel okay about waving my hands around and making occasional eye contact with new people" stage. Simon yells cheerfully and pats her with both hands. He's a born ladies man.

Yeah, her body language is kind of pulling away from him right now.  Give her time and she'll come around.

I was just driving my car...turning right at an intersection...a lady coming the opposite direction was turning left.

She does not yield to me.  We're both turning onto a 4-lane road.  I wanted to be in the left lane so I end up yielding to her, kind of creeping in behind her as she pulls through her turn.  Perhaps I crowded her a bit, but so what?  It's my prerogative to crash into her ass if I wanted to; it's my right of way.

She has the fucking nerve to slow way down, adjust her mirror, and flip me off!

The irony of the story is that I was listening to a radio program discussing the deterioration of CIVILITY in modern life.

Yesterday was M______'s 30th birthday. We went out for steaks, but had to skip the movie because we were old and tired.

I remember when "Hey, let's have dinner and see a 10 pm movie!" was not a balls-out, ambitious plan.

(sigh)

The other fun thing was we had NO money. I had checked the bank balance a few days ago and we had $360. I'd kept track of our spending since then and we should have been fine. Plus, my brother owes us money for rent and had said he'd get it to me, so I had backup. However, I forgot to account for the two bills that automatically get paid from our checking account on the first. And M______ had spent more money than I realized, assuming my paycheck (which comes on the 5th or the Friday before if the 5th is on a weekend) would be here by today. Except, of course, the 5th is Monday. And then J________ never gave me the money, and when I asked him to get some dough from an ATM, he was already overdrawn.

So that made me look really cool.

Fortunately, we had a gift card we were planning on using anyway, and we just put the rest on a card. I still felt like a douche, though.

J_______ felt like shit, though, having no excuse at it were, for drinking himself into debt even after not paying rent. He really sucks with money.

Still, dinner was fun. I had a huge ribeye with a blue cheese crust.

I think we'll go to the movies tomorrow. We're going to see The Invention of Lying, most likely.

That's M______. We're on 24/7 "don't let him fall" watch, as he is moving around much more than usual. He can roll across the bed in under 10 seconds. (And even rolled off once, to my horror.) He also pulled himself to his feet for the first time yesterday.

Happy Birthday M_______!!!

I had some sort of bleu cheesed steak for the first time last year, and I gotta say, it works.   Not two concepts I would've put together on my own.

Don't feel like a douche, times is tough.   Me and S_______ are on a tight leash right now too.   We were just scheming on our "how do we keep the boys happy and busy all weekend without spending a penny" plan.

Simon (who is 7 months old) played with a 9 month old on Monday and dwarfed the kid. He's gonna be a monster.

We've been playing ball lately, but given that he shares Dad's childhood habit of closing his eyes whenever a ball so much as approaches him, I am not at all confident his size is going to translate into athletic prowess and make us rich.

Maybe he can play a henchman in a James Bond movie.
