And once again, notice that they're taking pot shots at him over trivial bullshit.
The democrats are merely morally bankrupt. The republicans are morally and intellectually bankrupt.

I'm involved in an extended debate right now on Hugo Chavez on Current. There's a CNN story linked there that implies that he has forcibly shut down 200+ radio stations in an effort to stifle dissent. And people just believe that shit, because the idea of Chavez as an insane dictator fits with ill-informed people's expectations for the region.
The fact is, he simply did not renew the licenses for 34 (not 200) stations. Why? Well, they gave their support on-air for the attempted coup against him.
They gave their support on air for treason and insurrection so five years later he doesn't renew their licenses? Some despot he is.
I'm not saying he's not a megalomaniac walking a fine line, but as a popular, democratically elected anti-globalization and poverty relief advocate and Bolivarian Socialist, he's not exactly the Presidente for Life strongman the Western press likes to paint him as.

Yeah, and meanwhile, you don't see much coverage of the continuous and widespread human rights abuses perpetrated by the Columbian government. I used to think, back in the nineties, that Chomsky was making shit up and exaggerating. Used to. I don't any more.

The hullabaloo over Obama's beer choice in the "beer summit" between him, Gates, and the cop is ten kinds of asinine.
First of all: who cares? Second of all: they're really trying to get red staters to rally around the idea that drinking Bud Light is unamerican? Good luck with that. Third of all: the only real way he could have chosen an American beer would be to pick a microbrew, since Budweiser is owned by InBev, Miller by the South Africans, and Coors is 50% owned by Molson. And if he'd chosen a microbrew, it would have been the dijon mustard incident all over again--him getting excoriated for being highbrow.
And here's a thought: if the big buyouts of American beer companies were happening now during Obama's watch as opposed to a few years back under Bush, and Obama had pushed to stop them, on grounds of keeping American beer American, wouldn't the neocons have gone for his throat for standing in the way of globalization and free market capitalism?
The bottom line of course is that they don't give a shit what beer he drinks, they just wanted to take the opportunity to take potshots at him.
I think he shoulda served Smithwick's.

We should start a conspiracy theory that Lou Dobbs is a woman and insist that the only way to disprove it is for him to allow a panel of experts and a collection of randomly chosen Americans to examine his genitals live on air.
And then if he does it, we have to insist we believe he's had a sex change.

While I agree that this is utter nonsense, it is nice to see some criticism of the president...even if the situation has become so bleak that we have to look to the xenophobes and moonbats for it.
Obama Liberals, with full support from the mainstream media which still has not fallen out of love with him. are attempting the same ploy that Bush Conservatives perfected during the War on Terror: Mischaracterize the opposition. To do this they regularly suggested that the anti-war movement was populated solely by burnt out acid freaks with BUSH = HITLER/ZIONISM = NAZISM placards; flagburners and 9/11 Truthers; gray-bearded, morbidly obese men handing out Communist tracts; and square-shouldered butch lesbians marching in nothing but bodypaint.
The same Liberals who screeched about every news item coming out of Iraq are now making excuses for the same policies continuing under Obama. The escalation in Afghanistan and the new war Obama started in Pakistan ...well, they receive a shrug...and a HEY LOOK OVER THERE!!! THERE ARE RACISTS WHO THINK OBAMA AIN'T A CITIZEN! HOW IGNORANT! LET'S WASTE SOME MORE TIME GLOATING OVER THE TEMPORARY DEFEAT OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! WHOO!
Who gives a fuck? At least these conservative fuckheads are ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING THEY BELIEVE IN... we all laughed and cringed watching that woman with her birth certificate in a ziploc bag...but where are the fucking "anti-war liberals" jumping up at townhall meetings demanding that Obama end his illegal and bloody wars in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, his further expansion of NATO/aggravation of Russia, his administrations saber-rattling in the direction of Iran, his administrations muted support for the coup in Honduras ...
As near as I can tell they don't fucking exist...liberals stay home when Democrats are in office...even if they are carrying out the very same policies as the last guy. That last guy they despised with every molecule in their being...the guy that would cause them to gnash their teeth if they caught a glimpse of him on tv. The guy who angered people enough to prompt them to regularly refer to the Days In Office Remaining Clock. The guy who, if he had done what Obama has done in Pakistan, would have had millions of liberals angrily muttering the words, "I wish someone would fucking shoot that motherfucker."
But instead we hear nothing but, "Is the Republican machine out for the count?"
Fuck the parties..it really doesn't matter - evidently they share more or less the same views on the big issues of empire and state.
