I guess this was posted on Boingboing a couple of weeks ago, but I completely missed it.

These guys divided Star Wars into 15-second segments. You sign up, choose a segment, recreate it and upload it. The stitched-together version will present the "ultimate" fan version of the movie. Seems cool.

However they want. Some of them are doing re-enactments, some are doing Lego, some puppets, etc.

Lucas has a decent track record of not suing fan-made stuff as long as they don't try and profit from it without some kind of deal. So this has a decent chance of coming off.

I think it will likely be unwatchable though. I've clicked on a few clips and they're... not good. You might hope for the sort of lovingly obsessive detail-oriented recreation you get from say, Trekkies, but it's mostly just people going through the motions. One clip I saw was two teenage boys reciting the dialogue in their kitchen sans costumes.

Shatner gives Palin's resignation speech a dramatic reading.

My ex-girlfriend Cindy - the chic who I allowed to mentally abuse me for the 4 yrs we were together and about 5 or 6 yrs after we broke up - the one that still pisses me off from time to time when I accidently think about her - wants to be my fb friend.

This is what she wrote - she goes by Vanya now:

This facebook thang is something else. Do you remember/want to remember me? I'm The Artist Formerly Known as Cindy. We had a somewhat tumultuous relationship. You still look the same, with a little more weltschmerz. I've always wondered what you were doing.

I'm kinda conflicted about this. On the one hand, I'd like to come across like everything's cool and that all that crap is in the past. On the other hand, she was a total cunt and some part of me still hasn't completely let it go. I could just not respond or I could tell her to fuck off. Shit, I don't know how I should respond.

That's an icky feeling, Evan. I think you should ignore her until she goes away. It denies her a reconciliation or a confrontation. That's how I got rid of the creepy ex who found me on Myspace (even though I have almost no info on there and only even registered to read Reignind Sound's blog.)

ditto above.      potential upside of closure is way outweighed by potential downside of letting crazy girl back in your crawlspace.

Tried the same thing a few years back and it was awful and eventually had to block her.
